In other words, it creates a wireless network that devices such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets can access.

WAPs are typically used in both residential and commercial applications to provide a wireless Internet connection and create a wireless network within an existing wired network. They are particularly useful in situations where running cables or wires is not practical or feasible.

To set up a WAP, it is usually connected to a wired network via an Ethernet cable. Once connected, the WAP sends out a wireless signal that can be received by nearby wireless devices, allowing them to access the Internet and other network resources without the need for cables.

With a WAP, wireless devices can connect to the Internet anywhere within signal range, making it an ideal solution for schools, offices, airports and other public areas where users need to move around without losing connectivity.

WAPs can also be used in conjunction with mesh extenders to increase the range and strength of a wireless network. This way you can ensure full wireless coverage throughout the home or office, even in areas where the wireless signal is weak or non-existent.

A wireless access point (WAP) is a type of network device that enables wireless devices to connect to a wired network without the need for cables.
