Javascript

JavaScript was first developed by Brendan Eich as part of Netscape Communications Corporation's Mozilla project in 1995. He developed JavaScript as a scripting language to extend HTML with dynamic behavior, and Netscape released the first version of Netscape Communicator with a built-in JavaScript interpreter. Later, JavaScript became an integral part of web browsers.

JavaScript, or JS, is one of the most important programming languages for the World Wide Web. It is often used in conjunction with HTML and CSS to create dynamic content for web pages. Most websites use JavaScript on the client side for web page behavior. Often, these websites rely on third-party JavaScript libraries.

JavaScript has become a standard language for adding special effects and features to a website. For example, drop-down menus can be added to the navigation bar, which is not possible without JavaScript. It can also be used to change the text of buttons when the user clicks on them. It is used to display information and open new windows or pop-up boxes.

There are many other functions that can be performed with JavaScript, but the most common are:

- Changing the style and appearance of a web page. This includes changing the background color, font size, position of an image, etc.
- Activate or inactivate links (clicking on a link activates it, clicking on an inactive link does nothing).
- Adding functionality to a website. Google Maps and YouTube, for example, are created with JavaScript.
- Removing features from a website. Some websites use JavaScript to block pop-up windows, to display a "please wait" message when pages load, and so on.
- Use of cookies (a type of data stored on the user's computer) to personalize the user's experience.
