Jupyter is a project that aims to promote interactive computing through the development of open source software, open standards and services that support multiple programming languages. The name Jupyter is inspired by its support for the three core programming languages Julia, Python, and R. The project was founded in 2014 as a spin-off from IPython by Fernando Pérez and Brian Granger. It is financially supported by NumFOCUS.
Jupyter has developed several interactive computing products, including Jupyter Notebook, JupyterHub, and JupyterLab. Jupyter Notebook is a powerful web application for creating, sharing, and publishing documents with live code, equations, visualizations, and narrative text.
