Cloud service

< 1 min read

A cloud service, also known as an "online service," is a web-based application or software offered over the Internet, often as a subscription or rental service. They are similar to traditional desktop computer programs or applications, but instead of being installed on the user's computer, they are hosted on remote servers and accessed through a web browser with a login or account.

Cloud services include things like email, storage, and online office suites like Google Docs. They're typically delivered via a subscription model, where you pay a fixed monthly fee to access the services. The service provider maintains the infrastructure that runs your software applications.

Most cloud services include a range of storage, computing, networking, security, monitoring and management tools. The cloud is a virtualized environment where the provider manages the hardware and software for you, so you can focus on your application.

Cloud servers use network connections to provide software with constant and immediate access to other computers. These servers are managed by companies that provide cloud-based services, such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.
