Emulator

Emulators in computer science refer to a hardware or software that enables a computer system to behave like another computer system.

Emulators are used by some people to run another computer's operating system or applications in a virtual machine on their computer. This lets you simulate a real device such as a PC, Android, iOS or Mac and run programs developed for that platform. That means you can experience and enjoy the benefits of a specific platform without having to buy or use the actual device.

For example, an emulator lets you run Windows programs on a Mac or Linux. This allows you to install new apps or updates on your Mac or Linux computer that are otherwise not natively supported. Also, you can run the Android emulator on your computer and test your application without worrying about your phone's screen size or hardware.

Emulators are mainly used for games. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 games can be emulated and run on any PC that runs Windows XP, Vista, 7 or even Windows 8 operating systems. Most emulators available on the market can even be downloaded for free.
