Operating system

1 min read

Operating system means "operating system" in German, but the interesting thing is that operating system does not only refer to the operating system itself. In business, operating system can refer to the entire IT infrastructure of the company. This can include applications, servers, networks and more. When considering operating systems, it's important to consider how your company's technology stack (i.e., the tools your company uses) interacts with the rest of your organization.

An operating system is a type of operating system designed specifically for use on a computer.

It manages the computer's resources, such as memory and CPU time, and provides a user interface. It is mainly used in information technology and also consists of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. ERP software is often used for business-to-business transactions, but can also be used for business-to-consumer transactions.

There are three categories of ERP systems: Integrated solutions, modular solutions and component-based solutions.

  1. Integrated solutions combine different modules in one solution.
  2. Modular solutions have many specialized modules.
  3. The component-based solutions consist of pre-assembled components.

ERP solutions usually cost several thousand euros. The most popular ERP solutions include Microsoft Dynamics AX, SAP and Oracle EBS.
