A user interface (UI) is the front end of an application. It is what a person interacts with when they click a button, type in a text box, or drag and drop items onto a screen.
User interface design is an essential part of any business that sells its products online. At its core, UI design is about creating a consistent user experience. From product pages to email newsletters, websites, and social media pages, great user experience is all about consistency. A simple UI may not seem complicated, but the more consistent it is across all your digital channels, the more memorable the experience will be for your customers.
A simple way to understand the user interface (UI) is to think of it as a menu. When you first open your computer, the operating system (OS) displays the main menu, the Start screen. This menu lists all the programs on your computer. You can open a program from the Start screen. This is called the icon menu. When you open a program, you will notice that it has its own menu. This is called the taskbar. From the taskbar, you can close the program or all programs at once.
