Prototyping

1 min read

Prototyping is the process of graphically designing an application. It involves creating a live model of an application to check whether it meets the requirements of the project or not.
It is designed to help customers and users understand the flow of an application. Prototyping allows us to test our ideas without actually programming the application. This in turn saves us a lot of time and money. This also helps improve the usability of the project. Customers can experience the application using the prototype and suggest changes and additions to the design. Also, missing layers can be added and unimportant layers can be revised.

Prototyping provides developers with a clearer understanding of the application requirements. This prevents misinformation and misunderstandings during the application development process. Half of the work is done when the prototype is ready. The other half involves the development process. Prototyping is critical because changing layouts and elements through coding is more difficult than editing through design. It saves development time and shortens the time to complete the work.

There are two types of prototypes used in the industry. The first is low-fidelity prototyping, and the second is high-fidelity prototyping. Low-fidelity prototyping is cheap and fast, but also less realistic compared to high-fidelity prototyping. High-fidelity prototyping, on the other hand, is more appealing and accurate, but more time-consuming.
